The number of entrepreneurs and new businesses are rising every day. You might have heard from some entrepreneurs why they started their business – “to give myself more flexibility.” The reality is that the entrepreneurship journey is always busy and one has barely enough time for oneself. The fact that one is Female makes life even busier and the pressure more exhausting.
I understand how it is difficult to work for yourself, being someone who works for herself. As an entrepreneur, you often have to deal with unusual working hours, pressures, risk of failure, irregular money coming in; the list could go on and on.
You and I keep promising ourselves that once the business is fully running, projects are completed, get our first grant or raise our first capital, make our profits then we would have time to care of our own self.
Always remember that the “to do list” is never ending which would at one point in time make you feel overwhelming. Prioritizing your self care is an integral part of success.
Wait a minute, where in the schedule have you made time for you?
We are used to equating busyness with success and failure with rest.
Ever wonder why you get burnt out!
Self care is not a selfish act, it is not only about considering your needs rather it is about knowing what you need to do in order to take care of yourself then subsequently being able to take care of others.
Self care is any activity that you do voluntarily which helps you maintain your physical, mental or emotional health. It can help you feel healthy, relaxed and ready to take on your work and responsibilities. Sounds like something you and I need, right?
Where my busy Ladies at? Stop now and consider what the cost will be if you don’t engage in self care. Consider what you need right now and that is you; you are the most important person in your life. If anything happens to you, then all ends.
The challenge of being an entrepreneur has emotional and physical effects which can put you at health risk. The workload is capable of breaking you down if you don’t take a break. I am not suggesting you should lag in productivity but suggesting you use smarter approaches to ensure you don’t burn out.
Can you remember the popular slogan, “Health is Wealth”. Staying healthy is good business for the entrepreneur, constant self care is good business practice.
Self care saves you cost on health bills. Business trips, networking events, sleepless nights for strategic and planning, hours on brainstorming etc all contribute to the health risk we all face as entrepreneurs.
If anything happens to you now, what then happens to your great idea or the business you run?
So many entrepreneurs are not giving their health the attention it deserves because they might not see it high worth in their order of preference.
Remember when you were sick, I know you don’t like the feeling. There were cost associated with the sickness, there are better things you could have done with the money.
I know someone might get sick with all the precautions but you have a higher chance of not getting sick when you treat yourself right.
You know how you work hard for your money; you don’t want to spend it on bills that could have been avoided.
You need to be healthy to be wealthy
Self care improves clarity and creativity. A calm mind is a clear mind, which allows for more creativity and inspiration. If you are overwhelmed doing lots of things at once, you aren’t in the best mindset to be creative, organized, and successful in your goals.
You want to be successful right, Why not take your time to give you care.
I would conclude by saying self care should always be your first priority and form part of your entrepreneurship routine. Don’t wait around to be inspired, plan for success by having a list of your favorite self care activities.
So each time you write your to do list and set goals; also remember the important one that must be part of them- self care. Prioritize yourself and reap the amazing benefits.
Feel free to share other information on self care. I would love to hear what you think of self care. Looking forward to your story.
